The 2010 American Heart Association protocols are now in force with exception of the Pediatric First Aid class which we expect to be updated in late 2012.
All printed materials for the 2011 courses are currently used. Please note that the 2010 Heartsaver protocols include AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) with CPR certification. We still teach a non-certified CPR only class at the Family and Friends level. Renewing students, of any AHA course, will be required to purchase a new 2010 protocol student manual instead of reusing their previous workbook. Certification cards are valid for 2 years. When do I use HANDS-ONLY CPR? Post this "Hands Only" flyer where people gather to remind them to DO SOMETHING if needed Watch this HANDS ONLY Video
The CPR And Safety Training Team is based in Costa Mesa, Orange County, CA and travels to other Orange County locations as well as training venues in the surrounding area as requested. As part of our mission to encourage everyday safety and emergency preparedness, we focus on training the American Heart Association (AHA) disciplines of Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, Heartsaver AED (which includes CPR) and Heartsaver Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP). These disciplines have two-year certifications. To help businesses comply with OSHA, we also teach Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens, which has a one year certification. Our low student to trainer ratio assures every student the personal attention that will help them succeed. We also offer the non-certificated AHA Heartsaver Family and Friends CPR and Family and Friends First Aid awareness courses, if a group wants to host that level of training. To promote quality skill and knowledge retention, the AHA requires that all students have access to the appropriate student manuals before, during and after the class unless they are using an Online Learning component. Our listed prices include all books and materials. We offer this AHA training on weekdays, but, because people are so busy, we also offer classes on evenings and weekends depending on trainer schedules. We encourage groups to train together, because it is more fun to train with your friends. We will bring the training to the sponsor’s venue, because it is more comfortable and convenient to train in a familiar or close-by location. For very busy people, the Blended Learning of online classes (AHA Heartsaver First Aid Online, AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED Online, AHA Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Online and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Online disciplines) offer the convenience of doing your book and written work online by yourself and then doing the skills practices and tests with one of our trainers in a short class specifically for this purpose. When you think of the American Heart Association (AHA) disciplines of Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, Heartsaver AED (which includes CPR) and Heartsaver BLS for HCP, you can choose whether it is easier to sponsor a class and get your friends trained as well, take one of the scheduled public classes or request a class to meet your need. The founding members of this team were originally trained by the city of Costa Mesa to teach CPR as part of a neighborhood preparedness program. The city discontinued funding the CPR training and the team members have continued on their own so that inexpensive CPR training can be available. Team members also volunteer for the city, but this AHA training is not sponsored by the city in any way.
